PPWR Recap & Goal 2025

Welcome to 2025!
 

The year in which the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will officially come into effect (February 11, 2025). The introduction of this regulation has sparked much discussion and has kept us all engaged. We saw this reflected in the high interest in our 2024 Masterclasses, where nearly 500 visitors attended our sessions both domestically and internationally. These sessions also led to many follow-up meetings with customers—whether it was for introductions, deeper insights, or even full Masterclasses on-site. Together with you, we have taken an important first step in understanding the upcoming changes. We truly appreciate your trust and the recognition we have received for our efforts.

Do you know what stood out most during our conversations? The willingness to take action. Many of you are open to reducing packaging, developing reusable options, and improving the recyclability of your products. But, as many of you rightly ask: How do you approach this, and what is actually possible or allowed? That was precisely our focus in 2024—explaining the legislation, exploring possibilities, and clarifying uncertainties. However, we also encountered challenges. Many aspects of the PPWR are still in development. Some elements require further elaboration, while others await alignment. No wonder it can sometimes be difficult to determine exactly what steps to take!

Our Plans for 2025

That’s why we are continuing our efforts in 2025. Just like last year, we will organize sessions for those who want to understand the fundamentals of the PPWR. But we are also introducing advanced sessions for those ready to dive deeper into specific themes. In the meantime, we will keep researching what is possible and permissible for you. Even when there are still uncertainties, we ensure you always have access to the most up-to-date insights.
